This Privacy Policy explains how Quarry (“Quarry,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the Quarry app for iPhone and iPad or visit this website. Questions may be sent to quarryoutdoorsapp@gmail.com.

Information stored on your device
You may create field records containing activity type, title, date, location name, map coordinates, species or sightings, gear, outcome, weather, moon phase, notes, and imported photos. Quarry stores this content inside the app’s local storage. Appearance and map-style preferences are also stored locally.
We do not receive this archive. You control it through the app’s create, edit, delete, and export tools. Deleting a record also deletes photos Quarry copied for that record. Deleting the app generally removes its local container, subject to Apple’s device backup and restoration behavior.
Location and maps
If you choose “Use Current Location,” Quarry asks iOS for location access to position a trip pin. You may deny access and place the pin manually. Quarry saves the selected coordinates with the local record. The app uses Apple MapKit to display maps; Apple may process map requests and related device or location information under Apple’s privacy terms.
Photos
Quarry uses Apple’s system photo picker so you can select images. Selected photos are copied into Quarry’s local app container and associated with the record you choose. Quarry does not upload those photos. When you create an export, photos are included only in the local archive you choose to share.
Weather requests
Weather retrieval is optional and happens only after you choose “Update from Pin.” Quarry rounds the selected latitude and longitude to two decimal places—approximately kilometer-level precision—and sends that approximate pin, the selected date, and requested weather variables to Open-Meteo. Open-Meteo returns temperature, conditions, pressure, wind speed, and wind direction. Quarry does not send your notes, photos, title, species, gear, or identity with the request.
Open-Meteo independently processes network information such as IP address according to its own policies. If weather is unavailable, you can continue offline and enter conditions manually.
On-device guided journaling
Quarry includes optional guided journal questions. Built-in prompts work offline. On supported Apple devices, Quarry may use Apple’s on-device Foundation Models framework to personalize three reflection questions using the trip context currently shown in the app. That processing occurs on the device; Quarry does not send the journal context to us or to an external AI service. Generated prompts may be incomplete or inaccurate and are intended only as writing aids.
Website and support email
This website does not use advertising cookies, analytics pixels, accounts, or contact forms. Standard hosting infrastructure may temporarily process technical request data such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps for security and delivery.
If you contact support, we receive the email address, message, attachments, and other information you choose to provide. Email is handled through Google’s Gmail service. We use support messages only to respond, maintain service quality, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations. Please do not send precise field coordinates, private photos, or full archives unless needed and you choose to do so.
Analytics, advertising, and tracking
Quarry does not include third-party advertising, attribution, or behavioral analytics SDKs. We do not sell personal information or use information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Quarry does not track you across third-party apps or websites.
Retention, deletion, and export
Local records remain on your device until you delete them or remove the app. Quarry cannot remotely access or restore them. You can export a complete archive containing JSON, CSV, and local photos, or export a standalone CSV from Settings. Support emails are retained only as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain records, resolve disputes, or satisfy legal requirements.
Your choices and rights
You can deny or revoke location access in iOS Settings, avoid weather requests, use manual conditions, delete individual records, and export your archive. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights regarding information you send us by email. See Privacy Choices for instructions.
Children
Quarry is a general-audience outdoor journal and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child sent information to support may contact us for deletion.
Security and international processing
Quarry relies on Apple’s app sandbox and device protections for local data. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Open-Meteo, website hosting providers, Apple, and Google may process limited information in countries other than your own under their respective safeguards and policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Quarry changes. The revised policy will be posted here with a new effective date. Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate channel when required.
